Introduction to Polymer Modified Concrete

Key words
Polymer Modified Concrete, PMC, PCC
In the cement concrete mixing stage, monomers or polymers are added, cured and polymerized after pouring, and cured after molding to become a kind of cement concrete containing organic polymers, which becomes polymer modified concrete (PMC), also known as polymer Cement Concrete (PCC).
material composition
The main components include cement, sand, stones, water and water-soluble polymers or monomers.
polymer component
Synthetic rubber latex, such as neoprene latex (CR), styrene-butadiene latex (SBR), nitrile-butadiene latex (NBR);
Or thermoplastic resin emulsion, such as polyacrylate emulsion (PAE), polyvinyl acetate emulsion (PVAC), etc.
principle
The polymer forms a film inside the concrete, fills the pores between the cement compound and the aggregate, and integrates with the cement hydrate, making it have better viscosity and comprehensive properties. Due to the incorporation of polymers, it affects the hydration and setting and hardening process of cement, thereby changing the properties of cement concrete.
Advantageous performance
The change of the pore structure of the concrete improves the adhesion between the cement paste and the aggregate, reduces the micro-cracks in the hardened cement paste, and improves the physical and mechanical properties of the cement concrete. The water-reducing effect of the polymer can reduce the water-cement ratio, which can improve the working performance and other physical properties of cement mortar or cement concrete.
Polymer-modified concrete has good adhesion, durability, wear resistance, bending resistance, water impermeability, corrosion resistance and impact resistance.
Scope of application
Ground, pavement, bridge deck and the inner and outer deck surfaces of ships, especially suitable for floor anti-corrosion of spilled chemicals, can also be used as lining materials, shotcrete, joints between new and old concrete, repair of old concrete surfaces, tile adhesive, Waterproof coatings and porous drainage concrete, etc.
